Zepto, the Bengaluru-based quick commerce platform, has filed for an ₹11,000 crore IPO expected to list in July 2026. With 1,255 dark stores across 61 cities, the company is creating unprecedented demand for last-mile EV delivery partners across India.

Zepto’s Store Density Strategy

Unlike Blinkit’s expansion into 243 cities (2,222 stores), Zepto has taken a contrarian approach — going deep instead of wide. The company operates 21 stores per city on average, more than double the 9 stores per city that both Blinkit and Instamart maintain. This creates ideal conditions for EV fleet operators: shorter delivery distances, higher order frequency, and predictable routes.

EV Fleet Opportunity in Quick Commerce

India now has 4,081 operational dark stores across Blinkit (1,954), Zepto (1,089), and Swiggy Instamart (1,038). By March 2027, this could cross 6,000-7,000 stores. Each store requires 10-15 delivery riders daily, translating to 40,000-80,000 delivery jobs nationwide.

Zepto1,0896190% EV by 2027
Swiggy Instamart1,038104100% EV by 2030

What This Means for Fleet Operators

For EV fleet operators, quick commerce is the single largest and fastest-growing source of last-mile delivery demand. Zepto’s IPO will inject additional capital for dark store expansion, directly increasing the need for reliable EV fleet partners in every city they operate.
